Billy Porter Wears A Dress to the Oscars, And I’m Not Here For It

Have you ever seen a White man, or any other race of men for that matter, in a dress at the Oscars?

“Don’t underestimate the power of visuals and symbols.”

My goodness, Black people in Hollywood are desperate and trying too hard. On February 24, 2019, a Black male actor named Billy Porter, wore a tuxedo dress to the Oscars. [insert eye roll here]

As some of you might know from my other articles, I don’t watch mainstream television or listen to mainstream music. So, if I find out about something (that I didn’t go looking for), it’s because the topic is being talked about everywhere. And I mean this topic was everywhere so I couldn’t escape it if I tried.

I can’t remember where I first saw the image exactly, but I’m pretty sure it was on tv. I believe it was a picture on YouTube that might have been a thumbnail on someone’s video.

YouTube is the first app I turn on when I wake up to get my news.

Even though I can’t remember where I first saw Porter wearing a velvet tuxedo dress, I can most certainly tell you how the visual of seeing a Black man in a dress made me feel.
