Obama was the #ADOS Black Wake Up Call for Politics

This would be a laughable moment in the history of politics if this moment wasn’t so important for ADOS.

As a Black American woman who also identifies as ADOS (American Descendants Of Slaves), I never saw the point in voting. Recently, my views have began to change on voting for local and national politicians. But, when I was in my 20s, voting seemed like a waste of time to me.

I felt like nothing really ever changed for Black Americans no matter who was voted into office.

Why waste my time standing in lines at the polls to vote for someone who will only continue to find new ways to oppress Black people?

Then, Barack Obama happened.

To be honest, I was still pretty cynical about Obama making any significant changes for Black Americans. But, I wanted it to be true when I told my Black sons that they could be anything they wanted to be when they grew up.

This was my main motivation for getting Obama into the White House.

I voted for this race traitor, not once but twice.

My entire family went all the way from Georgia to Washington D.C. in freezing cold temperatures to see Obama being sworn in during his January 2009 inauguration. My two toddler sons were in a…
